Wig/Extensions Application & Care Instructions

How to Put on a Wig

  1. Take the wig out of the bag and remove all packaging including nets and labels. Shake it gently.
  2. Identify the front and back of the wig.

  8. Style as you would your own hair.

Wig Care & Maintenance

Proper care of your wig/extensions will keep it looking bright and new for as long as possible. As a general guideline, you should wash your hairpiece/extensions after about every 12 wearings. Allowing styling products and dirt to accumulate will make your hairpiece/extensions look dull and feel sticky. Regular conditioning will keep your hairpiece/extensions shiny and protect it from damage.

Washing Synthetic Hairpieces/Extensions

Use a mild shampoo and conditioner or ones specifically designed for synthetic wigs/extesnions.  Wig conditioners coat and protect synthetic fiber, leaving it shiny and preventing damage and color fading.

  1. Fill a sink or basin with cold/cool water and mix in a little shampoo. Immerse your hairpiece/extensions and let it soak for a few minutes.

  2. Gently swish the hairpiece/extensions back and forth, then rinse with cold/cool water until all the shampoo is removed.

  3. Gently swish the hairpiece/extensions back and forth, then remove from water.

  4. Refill the sink or basin with cool water and mix in a little conditioner. Immerse your hairpiece/extensions and let it soak for  a couple of minutes.

  5. Gently blot with a towel. It's a good idea to spray your hairpiece/extensions with a leave-in conditioner. Allow your hairpiece/extensions to air dry on a wig stand or clean dry towel.  Do not use a hairdryer on a high setting to dry your hairpiece as this will dmage and melt fiber. Do Not comb or brush the hairpiece/extensions until it is completely dry.

  6. When dry, gently shake your hairpiece/extensions and then style as usual but avoiding very hot appliances like straightners and curling tongs.

Washing Human Hair Hairpieces/Extensions

Human hair comes from many different individuals and therefore varies in thickness and texture. Most hairpieces/extensions are made with human hair that has been dyed and chemically treated.so the hair is more fragile than hair in its original state and must be treated gently in order to keep it looking good.

Conditioning is crucial to maintaining the look and life of your human hair hairpiece/extensions. Always use a mild shampoo and conditioner designed for color-treated or damaged hair.

  1. Fill a sink or basin with cool water and mix in a lttle shampoo. Immerse the hairpiece/extensions and allow to soak for a few minutes.
  2. Gently swish the hairpiece around in the shampoo solution, then rinse with cool water until all teh shampoo is removed.
  3. Remove hairpiece/extensions from the sink and apply a little leave-in conditioner.

  4. Blot hair with a towel and put it on a a dry clean towel or wig stand to dry. Run a wide-toothed comb gently through the hair to give it direction. If you use rollers, you can put the piece under a warm dryer or you can let it air dry naturally. After it dries, you can use styling brushes and curling irons as usual.
